our new hurumanu PE 2

so on Monday we started a small test in groups the activates were Vertical Jump and i got were
M1: 1.9 M2: 2.1 grip test was 1 sit and reach was 10cm also sit ups were 17.
Thursday we did a beep test so the teachers know how far we are in fitness my results is level 5. I think i should work on speed because i had not a lot of speed to continue next time i have PE hurumanu i will work on m speed and also at home ill run around in the drive way but on the plus side i worked well with people because i was cheering for the others and my goal is to at least get 6.1.

what we are doing for cip

hi welcome to my blog post and in cip. we are doing gardening and the first week we drawed a plan on how we should make the out side class room like. wait i haven't told you a about it so the out side class room is a classroom for when teachers want to bring there students there to like read a book or work on devices or play games. All and the other projects are so far are cutting the branches off the trees and digging places for the garden i think and we are taking the wees out of the garden  and thats it for now bye.

Changing Our Future

Aim; To look at the different ways we can prevent climate change in the future.

Changing Our Future

Name 3 fossil fuels?gas oil coal

What is the cost? carbin doxside

  1.    heat waves
  2.     animql extinction.
  3.
How many climate refugees will there be in Britain by 2050?
200 million

When will Fairborn be flooded?
26 years

What are some of the other things that will be 'swallowed by the waves'?
  1.    1000 toxic
  2.     power statshion
  3.     gas plants

How can we stop climate change?
  1.    stop uses gas
  2.  cars and all run on elestic or hydro
  3.  fly less
  4.    cut back on meat consumption
What ideas are school children having about climate change?
  1.    voteing
  2.   protest
  3. write letters
What is the atmosphere called?

a Waste Dump.

What is the last statement the reporter made?

We knowwhat we need to do, we have got the soltionaq. What we lack is the political will.

 _______________ w________.

What can we do?

  1.
  2.
  3.

CURBING CLIMATE CHANGE

What is the one, silver bullet solution?

What is the mix of things we need to start doing?
  1.
  2.

What are 3 others you can think of?
  1.
  2.

Activity: Ranking climate change issues.

Using the worksheet,  rank the issues from climate change.

MY INVESTIGATION

Aim: To look at how I can prevent climate change in the future.

1. Complete the activity Ecological Handprint.

2. Complete the activity Carbon Footprint.

What will you do to stop climate change? Using ideas from the Ecological Handprint and Carbon Footprint list 10 changes that you can make to stop Climate change?

renewables

RENEWABLE ENERGY

Aim: To compare the amount of gas that is produced from different types of biomass

A picture of three bottles with balloons on top, containing cow manure with vegetable peelings or mashed banana.
Energy science project

Investigation.

What is biomass?
its a never ruining out source of energy What are the 5 types of biomass?

  1.  hydro electric
  2.  wood
  3.  bio fuels
  4.  wind
  5.  solar
What are three benefits of biomass?
  1. it combats climate change
  2.    can decrease pollution
  3.    reliable source of power
What are three disadvantages of biomass?
  1.   generates power on smaller scale
  2.   can disrupt wild life and migration patterns
  3.   power can be intermittent

Research the following types of Biomass.
You will need to:
Write a definition of the each fuel.
Answer each question
  • How is it made?
  • What is it used for? making energy
  • Where is it made? Sweden, Austria, and the United States
  • What is it made with? it was made with plants wood and more
  • What countries use it?   pretty much all of the countries
Place 2 images of the fuel.

the water cycle

IM: TO LOOK AT THE WATER CYCLE AND HOW CLIMATE CHANGE IS AFFECTING IT.

Definition:

A green box with icons and white text. Text reads: Where is Earth's Water? 96.5 percent is in the oceans; 1.7 percent is in lakes, rivers, streams, and soil; 1.7 percent is in polar ice caps, glaciers, and permanent snow; 0.001 percent is in water vapor in Earth's atmosphere

Scientific words:

  • Evaporation. When water is heated by radiant energy it turns into water vapor.
  • Transpiration. Evaporation from plants.
  • Condensation. When water vapor cools, molecules join together and form clouds.
  • Precipitation. When clouds get heavy the waters falls as rain, sleet, hail, or snow.
  • Acidification: the action or process of making or becoming acidic.

We will be conducting an experiment that looks at the different ways that climate change is affecting the water cycle.
An illustration of the water cycle showing how water travels from rivers and streams to clouds to snow and back again

THE WATER CYCLE EXPERIMENT

Bag 1: Normal Water cycle
Bag 2: Water cycle with CO2 added: like Oceans in climate change
Bag 3: Water cycle with ice added: like Antarctica in climate change

Material:

  1.  bag
  2.  water
  3.  soda
  4.   vivid marker
  5. bags
  6. litmus
  7. food colouring

Steps:

  1.  2 pot colouring food
  2.
  3.
  4.
  5. 2 pot colouring food
  6. in bag 2 i added litmus paper

definition:

since of globial warming we will get less fresh water

findings:

the way it affects us is there are a more chance that it can flood more and the ice burgs will melt  pretty easily. oil and natural gas infraatructure is vulnerable to the effects of climate change and the increased risk of disasters such as storm, cyclones, flooding and long term increses in sea level
The Water Cycle: Bag 1
CO2 Water Cycle: Bag 2
Acid
Desert Water Cycle
Bag 3
Does it cycle?
yesyesyes
Amount of Water
222
Acidity
131

Key: Water and acidity amount: 1 = none
2 = small
3 = large

Other comments:

1. bag 1 cycled water
2. bag 1 had a small amount of water
3.acidily is bag 1 was low
4. bag 2 cycled soda water
5. bag 2 had a small amount of water
6. acidly is bag 2 was large]
7.bag 3 cycled desert water
8. bag 3 had a small amount of water
9 acidily is bag 3 was low

Conclusion:

the water cycle bag 1 doing ok but the coldness is blocking the sun
bag 2 the soda water experiment still waiting for it to work and it is red right now.

Draw a labelled diagram of the Water Cycle

Water cycle words:
  1. Precipitation
  2. Hurricanes
  3. Acid rain
  4. Evaporation
  5. Carbon Dioxide
  6. Water
  7. Defirestation
  8. Water vapour
  9. Transpiration
  10. Flooding

TODAY YOU WILL BE INVESTIGATING THE EFFECTS THAT CLIMATE CHANGE HAS ON THE WATER CYCLE.

  1. Using your SOLO hexagons poster write a paragraph about the different aspects of climate change.
  2. Write about the following Climate Change concepts:
You can do these by powerpoint, embedding a movie , on your blog, on a doc or any other form of presentation. It is up to you.
